Retreat Description
Co-Lead by Vincent Horn and Emily Horn
This is a Buddhist Geeks Online Retreat
“Religion and philosophy have their value, but in the end all we can do is open to mystery and live a path with heart.” – Jack Kornfield
On the contemplative path we learn various skill sets aimed at helping deepen our experience of mindful awareness. In this life retreat we’ll focus on the skills related to opening the trusting heart. We’ll explore formal heart practices (hacks) while also looking at how to bring that open heart into other areas of life. We’ll pay particular attention to the importance of self-care as an expression of self love, as well as what it means to engage in selfless action.
Emily and Vincent’s teaching approach draws on the methods and practices of concentration, investigation, meditative inquiry, formless awareness, and heart-based meditation. As you work with Emily and Vincent one-on-one you’ll go through a discovery process together, finding out which techniques best support your unfolding process. The emphasis for this retreat will obviously be on heart-based practice, but there will be plenty of opportunity to explore other practices that support this process.
Topics of group exploration will include: Roadblocks to Tenderness, Flavors of Compassion, Generosity & Gratitude, and Relationships as Practice
