Emily Horn is a Certified Mindfulness Teacher (CMT-P) via the International Mindfulness Teachers Association and an authorized Insight Meditation Teacher, empowered to teach meditation, Dharma, and long residential retreats by Spirit Rock Meditation Center, Insight Meditation Society, and InsightLA.
Her work is deeply influenced by her studies at Naropa University and more than a year of intensive Insight Meditation retreats mentored by Jack Kornfield, PhD, Trudy Goodman, PhD, and others in her 20s. For almost two decades, she has taught retreats around the world, mentored and trained hundreds of mindfulness teachers, and for more than seven years has served as a senior mentor in the Jack Kornfield, PhD and Tara Brach, PhD–led Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program.
Called a “power player of the mindfulness movement” by Wired Magazine, Emily’s teaching and writing have been featured in 10% Happier, Boston Children's Hospital’s Comfort Ability Project, Buddhist Geeks, and pioneering mindfulness apps such as Brightmind and Buddhify, including early explorations of mindfulness in VR.
Alongside her sister, Dr. Kirsten West, she co-founded Mindful Wellness Space—a collaborative healing environment integrating meditation, functional medicine, chiropractic care, acupuncture, and other restorative modalities. With her husband, Vincent Horn, she co-created the groundbreaking Buddhist Geeks conferences and retreats while embracing the profound journey of parenthood.
Born and raised in the Southern Appalachian region, Emily now lives in Swannanoa, NC, in the Blue Ridge Mountains with Vincent and their son, Zander. Raised Episcopalian and deeply connected to Buddhist wisdom, her practice blends ancient roots with modern science, offering a grounded yet innovative approach to well-being.
For Emily, living mindfully means learning to dance with the full range of human experience—from transcendence to dirty dishes, from evolutionary edges to ancient roots, from solitary practice to deepening relationships.
